Actions are a powerful new way to add interactivity to your Jig presentations. You can make your Jig more engaging by enabling viewers to click on your 3D models, images, or text to go to trigger an action. Or you can allow users to guide themselves through your presentations in a non-linear path with interactive navigation when they click on content inside the presentation instead of using the forwards or back arrows.
You can preview interactive actions on the free plan and access all other actions on a paid subscription.
There are currently two types of interactive actions you can use in the workshop (with more coming soon!).
Go to step action
The ‘go to step’ action allows you to link an object in one step of your Jig to another step. This is useful when you want to bring a static model to life with an animated or exploded step when it is clicked. Or provide additional information or context for a particular object in your Jig when it is clicked.
Examples of interactive transitions you can enable with go-to-step
- Sub-parts or sub-assemblies in focus
- Static 3D model to step with model spinning slowly
- Flow effects and animation of object part when clicked
- Exploded view of object parts clicked
- Isolate part views when objects are clicked
- Make an object transparent when clicked
- Click on an image to go to step with video playing
- Choose-your-own adventure navigation.
Adding a go to step action
Follow these instructions to add an action that
- Open your presentation in the JigSpace desktop app by clicking edit
- Select an object, or sub-object, in your Jig
- Click + button next to Actions in the object property panel
- Choose ‘Go to step’ type from the dropdown
- Select the step number in your presentation that you want to link to.
- Toggle on ‘Apply to all steps’ if you want to add this to this object in all the steps it is visible (optional)
- Click add action to save.
To preview your action, hold down Option/Alt + click on the object you’ve added the action to. This will take you to the linked step. Or view a preview by clicking on the > play button.
Interactive navigation
By adding go-to-step actions to your objects, it is possible to have your viewers navigate through your content without the need for viewer step controls and the ability to restrict viewing of your unless a viewer clicks on an object or button that takes them to that step.
This opens up the possibility for new kinds of 3D content, from 3D configurators to quizzes and assessments. Learn more about these new use cases by watching a replay of our interactive navigation live webinar.
Go to URL action
The Go to URL action allows you to link to a website address when a user clicks on an object.
Examples of website URLs you might want to link to from your 3D objects:
- Marketing website pages
- Technical specifications or data sheets
- Contact forms or lead-generation forms
- Order forms
- Learning management software (LMS) pages
- Software URLs from platforms like Confluence, Miro, Notion, or SharePoint.

Feedback
More actions such as 'play video' or 'go to another Jig' and action triggers (like proximity or 'after delay') are planned this year.

* Note: plans are scheduled to update in May to limit the number of steps per Jig on starter and organization plans.
